First off, commenting on these and issuing a close vote doesn't appear to bounce the question up on the "Active" question tab.

Second, are these really off topic? When I think of a "super user" I think of someone that uses computer software, hardware, and other websites. Heck I'm using SO and SU on a daily basis.

While it's true this is explicitly laid out in the Super User FAQ, I believe some web services have a place here.

I don't think that voting to close a question should bump it. That would cause questions deemed unfit for a site to keep bubbling to the top and get more views.

I think the current system is working alright.

Right, but I don't want to run to meta with a list of 20 some odd questions that should be voted close. Hence my previous question for 3k+ users to see questions that have active close votes. – Josh K Mar 23 '10 at 3:37

but wouldn't said bubbling also mean that folks would get to vote on whether or not to close it? – warren Mar 23 '10 at 3:37

@warren That is one upside, but the percent of people who are able to close is very small. Thus, the majority of views will be from the average user of the site. And, they can't see close votes, and that might make them think that the question is appropriate for the site. – Justin 'jjnguy' Nelson Mar 23 '10 at 3:49
@Josh I do think it would be a good idea for 3K users to be able to see a list of close votes in the tools section. That, however, takes lots of incentive away from getting 10K. – Justin 'jjnguy' Nelson Mar 23 '10 at 3:50

Other options include waiting it out as mods clear the pending close list or 10k users add their votes, or just have some 3k level fans watch your recent activity tab and close on posts you comment on. @jos – random Mar 23 '10 at 4:27

There are no plans for slack on these, see here.

I see. Still, shouldn't they be bumped up on the Active tab so that they can be voted closed? – Josh K Mar 23 '10 at 3:34
Yes, I like the idea of close votes bumping, so that they can be reviewed for whether they need closing or not by a larger group of people. – Lance Roberts Mar 23 '10 at 15:18
