I have a device that sends out SMTPs packet using SSL encryption, and I need these packets to be accepted by a server that requires inbound packets to have OAuth 2.0. authentication.

How can I word a question asking for help achieving this without it being considered off topic?

This is a computer science question.

  • I don’t see any way to ask that question in Super User.

  • I don't understand why not. Surely there's an API call, or a server side script that can do this? packet encapsulation used to be a basic console function back in the day. May 3 at 18:40
  • We can help you author the script, but us writing the script for you it's entirety, is what will get your question in trouble. Just because it's a computer science question does not necessarily mean the question is within scope.

  • Most of the actual functionality to achieve this should be built into the OS, it's just a matter of knowing how to listen on the correct ports and which API calls to use to encapsulate and transmit it. Which I don't neither know nor know how to find on an OS in the current year. May 6 at 18:12
  • Sounds like you have some research to perform on the subject.

  • @Ramhound And you don't consider coming here to be part of that? May 6 at 19:23
