Tell us about a downvote, close, deletion, or other such "negative" action taken against you on Super User, and what you learned from it.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I learned a valuable lesson about the scope of the site that day.

A few answers were deleted when the question was off topic, but that was to be expected. I'd like to see this more often, actually. I haven't been downvoted a lot either, and very rarely got explanations, which is the users' right, but still severely limits what I can learn from it.

I asked about it on Meta, and @Diago gave a great answer as to why. I learned a lot from that experience, not only how to better my question asking, but also that the Meta site was a great tool to use to better myself and the site.
