Every once in a while, people ask for plain hardware shopping advice, which is off topic per [our FAQ][1].

However, there are probably countless forums that deal with hardware, and possibly even encourage shopping recommendation questions.

As a courtesy to users who post a rather decent shopping question (which still is closed as *off topic*), is there any place on the internet we can point them to? Which sites do you know?

Or should we rather just leave them figure this out themselves?
