I agree that [tag:selection] as a tag is too broad. **However**, when viewing the questions it's used with, a few separate topics emerge:

There are some other uses, but these are the main three, and in my opinion they are topics worthwhile of having tags. So rather than completely burning, it may be better to split it into [tag:text-selection], [tag:image-selection] or [tag:file-selection]. (For other uses of [tag:selection], complete removal is more warranted). 

The main three would be solid topic areas when paired with the appropriate program or OS tag. What do you think?
