No we should not. Of all the things that would be unnessisary noise, that would qualify as it. I would prefer to see accolades and "this solved it for me" and other things that are deemed undesirable …

Is there something off with how reputation is built on Stack Exchange?

I am not a mod (at all) but mods have cleaned up some of the bad rude or really unnecessary comments before. … I would choose "too chatty" , and I doubt anyone would have a big issue with a comments cleanup there. …
