Why does attributing alone not prevent a plagiarism suspension

Question: Does attributing and referencing content sources in your answer alone protect you from having your SuperUser account suspended for plagiarism?

Important: Clear guidelines, consistent enforcement, and transparency are crucial for maintaining a healthy community. Community managers and moderators should align on specific instances based on evidence and context when necessary, following defined rules with full disclosure.

Some Additional Info & Thoughts. . .

It's understandable that someone should not quote content entirely and assume referencing it alone will be a good answer or acceptable whatsoever based on community standards.

  • Community members, regardless of their tenure or reputation, should receive proper education to understand that the hundreds of posts currently valid on SuperUser cannot be fairly cleaned.

  • Given that this practice was once more acceptable on SuperUser, as evident from searching historical posts and using it as intended for the purpose of the audience.

Same Question Still: Does referencing a source alone per any content you copy to help someone protect your account from being suspended per a "current" SU violation of any rules?

As per How to reference material written by others the definition of "plagiarism" reads as such:

Plagiarism - posting the work of others with no indication that it is not your own - is frowned on by our community, and may result in your answer being down-voted or deleted.

According to this definition, proper attribution prevents plagiarism. Therefore, individuals should always reference content they obtain from others to avoid accusations and potential account suspension.
