I agree that selection as a tag is too broad. However, when viewing the questions it's used with, a few separate topics emerge:

• Text selection: usually paired with an OS, browser, or program tag. Some examples:

• Image selection: usually specific to image editing/manipulation programs, like GIMP or Photoshop:

  • Is it possible to make a selection in Microsoft Paint beyond the current screen resolution?

• File selection: OS and program level:

Rather than completely burning this tag, it may be better to split it into 3: retagging questions to either text-selection, image-selection or file-selection. There are some other uses, but in those cases complete removal is more warranted.

The main three would be solid topic areas when paired with the appropriate program or OS tag. What do you think?
