How to ask a question which is similar to other questions but not exactly similar

I find many questions which are similar to my question but not exactly what i want to ask. Some people feel it duplicate so they vote down or sometimes it leads closing a question.

I can edit a question. But I guess, this is just to modify the way of writing to make it more clear for readers.

Can I add more points to the question? So the duplicity can be reduced and all the readers can answer a single question perfectly. But

  1. It may confuse the user who asked the question
  2. It can make the question pretty complex and lengthy
  3. Reputation of user who asked the question will be affected only (due to any up vote or down vote).

Now please tell me how to ask a question which is similar to other questions but not exactly similar?
