superuser.com layout bug: divs overlapping & comments not working
Looks fine to me. How about starting Firefox with no extensions? There is a
Restart with Add-ons Disabled
option in the help
menu.

New error message box is easy to miss
That error message could also be hard to understand. Nonnumeric domain? Code block? I can imagine a lot of people being confused by that.

Should we add information from comments to questions if it invalidates existing answers?
On the other hand, it's not uncommon for the general concept or method expressed in an answer to be applicable for multiple operating systems, though the specific commands may be OS-specific. I don't really consider such answers incorrect.

Merge [remote-desktop] and [terminal-services]
I disagree with using terminal-services: Microsoft currently refers to their official RDP server software as Remote Desktop Services, formerly "Terminal Services". Their official client software is currently referred to as Remote Desktop Connection, formerly "Terminal Services Client". and This version was released to manufacturing in July 2009 and is included with Windows Server 2008 R2, as well as with Windows 7. With this release, the server name was also changed from Terminal Services to Remote Desktop Services. It's also the more visible/common name, which will help searches.

Blocklist request for [move], [removal] and some other unneeded tags
As I understand it, burnination is the act of removing the tag from all questions, while blacklisting is the act of preventing future use of a tag (and usually only done is relatively extreme cases). There's also tag synonyms, where one tag is mapped to another one.

Formatting Goodies
I think it's standard to use angled brackets (
<>
) to indicate a variable the user should insert, e.g. <filename>
. Probably from BNF, as is square brackets to indicate something optional ([--another option <path>]
). Of course, a lot of users won't be aware of this syntax...

Why was this question closed and the one on Ask Different wasn't?
@slhck That is essentially this question (note the point about each site having different communities) - the best thing to do may be linking the questions some way, since merging probably wouldn't work. But this is not the best place for this discussion - that's what that (unresolved?) MSO question was for. And I can't imagine the trouble you guys go through tidying up, so thanks! :)

Why was this question closed and the one on Ask Different wasn't?
@Everett It seems that the key is to not copy-paste a question, but rework it to be as relevant to the target site as possible, though admittedly there isn't much to change for some questions in Ask Different and Super User. I do feel that we are a little too harsh on one user posting the same question on multiple sites, where the question is equally relevant on both (note that cross-site duplicates by different users tend to be accepted more often)... A big reason would be to discourage one person asking a question across Stack Exchange, though I'm not sure if that's a bad thing, as long as it's on-topic...

@Everett There is a policy of closing cross-posted questions, as @slhck said (though there can be exceptions if it's not a verbatim copy-paste). On the other hand, sometimes these questions are left where they may have different target audiences.

Also, generally questions on Google Search (or any other web-based Google product) is off-topic on Super User and should be on Web Applications.
