Why are "why was ... implemented this way" questions closed as opinion based?
@TomWijsman: If you think a certain aspect of the site should be changed, maybe you should post that as a separate question. This question was asking for the reason for a certain behavior and I provided one. If the whole process can be improved by a simple change to the site, great, but I don't think this is the proper post to discuss them.

Why are "why was ... implemented this way" questions closed as opinion based?
@TomWijsman: Contrary to the main site, personal opinions on subjects are welcome on meta. I don't understand what you're trying to describe. Instead of closing such questions, the site should notify the user that the question is likely to be closed? And then what?

Limit time for downvotes
@Dave: Well, it should be. But you have to leave it for a while to give people a chance to adjust it so it can be reopened. This leads to closed questions living on the site for a long time when they should be deleted. However, in some cases off-topic questions are intentionally left on the site because they're simply too valuable to delete; these however can (and maybe should) be locked (locking a question disables voting), a mechanic that is rarely used.

Why were tags for [tagged-pdf] removed?
Either we have widely differing interpretations of the word "frequently" or am I'm missing something about the topic at hand here. Such a small amount of questions does not necessitate a separate tag, no matter how extensive the wiki for the tag would be. It would be just as well to have a canonical question about the topic or to stuff the information into the
[pdf]
tag wiki.

Why were tags for [tagged-pdf] removed?
Without looking too deep into this matter, I can say this: There are a total of 10 questions which have this tag spread over 2 sites. There is really no need for it to exist, it doesn't help anyone.

Memory channel tangle: Clean up [single-channel], [dual-channel], [triple-channel], and [multi-channel]
@Braiam: Those are the tags we have right now. I don't think introducing new tags is a good idea here. If you think
[audio]
and [memory]
should be split up or otherwise cleaned up, please suggest it in a new question.

Need insight on down-voted question
@fixer1234: I would recommend structuring your question in the reverse order as it is right now. Put your actual questions at the top, then go into more detail below. The details can be confusing if you read through them first, which might make your question appear to be unclear. Also, you could split a question like that into two: "How can I install the latest Java release on Debian?" and "How do I make sure that [browser] uses a specific Java version?"

Request to rename [label-printer] tag
Tags can be renamed through the merge operation. I only retagged this question because the cleanups are usually meant for tag removal (but they can also include retagging).
