Nov 11, 2019 at 15:30 | comment | added | Bob | @John I've also added an alternative that should hide the entire button. The new indicator hide will not flicker so it's up to you which one (if any) you use. If you really prefer userscripts I suppose I could wrap these up as one...

Nov 11, 2019 at 2:45 | comment | added | Bob | @John FWIW I've added a GIF (video) of the process for adding that CSS block to this answer. If you'd rather not go to that trouble that's fine too.

@John Your comment was missing the @ ping so they would not have gotten the notification. That's why I mentioned it again.

@John Alternatively, you can contact them in the Ask A Super User Moderator chatroom, just ping them in the same format (@ + Mokubai ) as they will be in that room.

@John Ok, I see what you mean. I've updated this answer with a pure CSS approach that should apply instantly (and therefore not flash anything on/off), if you would like to use that instead. To get in contact with Mokubai, you can simply reply to their comment on your question above ^ since they have commented there, they will be pingable. Just not in the answer comments because they have not commented here. Use the ping format of @ followed by the username (username alone will not notify), as I have done to you at the beginning of this comment.

@John I'm not sure what you mean by constant red icon/flashing red; I don't see that happen. If you would like to discuss bans from review you'd need to ping (@ notify) Mokubai in the comments on your question; as they've not commented on this answer they won't get notified of your comments here.

@John If you install a userscript extension (Violentmonkey, Tampermonkey), you should be able to create a new script in one of them and copy-paste the script in and save. Alternatively, you can save the file with the extension .user.js and open it in the browser (after you have one of those extensions installed). Or use this raw gist link.
