Nov 4 at 20:58 comment added 1NN If you really can't add anything to an answer you find elsewhere, it should be a comment, not an answer. Answers should be tested by whoever writes them, so at the very least, you can add something like: "I have found this solution of XY, which I have tested and can confirm it resolves your issue."
Oct 30 at 16:51 comment added Journeyman Geek Mod I mean, someone's quoting a post from another site, claiming its the practice they have there. Only, It wasn't what the site is using. In that context, I'd say the voting shows their community dosen't agree with it as much, and isn't a great indicator of best practices. Its a 6 month old post that got bumped up so - even if I was worried about looking bad, its a bit late for it. I think I've communicated quite extensively on my views on the topic already.

Jun 6 at 8:28 comment added harrymc For what it may help here, I agree of course with your answer : quoting/citing is distinct from plagiarism. It can be called "site rules" or anything else but not plagiarism. The whole point of my post was to get the moderators to get their terms straight and also to get their act together, punishing me and others while a moderator has with total impunity a hundred times more such answers than anyone else.

Jun 6 at 6:13 comment added Journeyman Geek Mod This isn't SO, and I'd point out the response from a mod got ~2x the upvotes you have, even if it mattered so... details are pretty important
