I answered a questionanswered a question, and since the question was of a real interest to me (I noticed the same thing on my own system and thought it might be malware), researched it further. It turned out my answer was incorrect.

So I went ahead and edited it, basically replacing it with a new answer. Is this a kosher thing to do? My older, incorrect answer was already upvoted... Maybe I should have deleted it and posted a new one?

What is the proper way to change your own answer completely?
