When your comment is upvoted, does it increase your reputation or does it not have any effect on it?

No. It does not affect your rep at all. But, you can get badges for upvoted comments:

Commentator: Left 10 comments.

and

Pundit Left 10 comments with score of 5 or more.

  • Any specific reason why it's that way? Seems like it would make sense to increase the reputation of the user if they have a good comment.

  • I could have sworn you used to get +2 rep for each comment... Another site maybe? Commented Nov 1, 2011 at 18:46
  • @Luke nope. Never has happened, never will. I think you're thinking of th +2 rep you get when you accept an answer.

  • @studiohack Might have been. But I do understand why they shouldn't be worth rep, but I think they should after say, +5 votes or +10 Commented Nov 1, 2011 at 19:08
