To avoid code fragments in comments to mess up with the layout, soft hyphens are automatically inserted into such code fragments after 81 characters without whitespace. For me, that works well:
Somehow your browser or OS doesn't understand such soft hyphens. Though Firefox 4 is quite new (and is supported), indeed I have the same issue in Firefox 4.0.1 on Mac OS X. No problem in other browsers though.
