The one comment I'd make about this is your point about taking into account a chatroom's culture. That's fine to a point, but "room culture" is about "we prefer to stay on-topic for the site where possible" or "we don't like talking about religion here"; it's absolutely not about "we make rape jokes and you can't stop us". Just one to be wary of while you're learning the ropes.
