I just edited the rant to fix the strikethrough text :P

The thing is, often what we put in the comments aren't actually answers at all, simply educated guesses to potential solutions. For example something as simple as "try updating drivers" or "running X or Y tool" aren't in themselves complete answers, just ideas...

Is this persistent or was it a one-time thing?

Why edits of answers to closed questions are allowed? Because if we're going to be keeping old closed questions around anyway, it makes sense to at least keep them up to date if they become outdated

Hm... Possible solution: \\?\ ... Add a trailing <space>? Markdown by default uses backslashes to escape formatting
